Hands - On Science Classes

 

Designed for children ages 4- 10 in groups of 15- 25.  program features artifacts, collections, books, games, and a make & take activity. Ideal as an in-house field trip. . Programs include:

Classes at the Arts Center for All

 

March 2015: Ooze, Glop, & Slime: Mix ordinary kitchen ingredients to make extraordinary concoctions. Learn about the states of matter, chemical and physical reactions, and Ph levels of acids and bases. Students handbook is included.

 

April 2015: ZAP! Electricity: Make a simple electroscope to detect static electricity.Design and build your own circuit board using tools to mount bussers, lights, motors, and a battery pack to power them all.

 

May 2015: Sharks!: Projects include searching through fossil sands to find tiny shark's teeth, making a fossil cast of a megladon shark's tooth, and setting up a fresh water aquarium. We will walk to PetSmart to choose your pet fish.

 

Preschoolers:    10:00 - 11:15 (T)

Homeschoolers:11:30 - 12:45 (W)

Afterschoolers:   3:30 -   4:45  ( T, W)

Afterschoolers:   4:30 - 5:45 (M)

 

Classes are offered in 4 sessions each month. Each session features a make and take activity for each student. Class size is limited. Cost is $160 per student plus a one time registration fee of $40.

Groups

 

Forty- five minute programs are designed for groups of 25 students. Cost is $100 per program. Payment is expected at the completion of services unless a purchase order has been processed.

Day Fairs
 
This is absolutely the easiest most educational way to raise money for your school. Groups of 25-50 children visit the day fair for 1 hour. Hands- on exhibits include:
  • Rocks & Minerals
  • Fossils
  • Insects
  • Space
  • Ocean
  • Invisible Forces
  • Dinosaurs
  • Plants
  • Animals
  • Archaeology
 
Cost of Services
 
Cost is $5 per child. Scholarships are offered to any child who cannot afford to pay. Payment is expected at the completion of services. Each school retains a percentage of the revenue.
 
There is an additional charge for travel and accommodations if the school is located more than 100 miles from Charlotte, NC.

Birthday Parties

 

Celebrate your child's birthday party by inviting Miss Ava, the Science Lady to present:
